The Ultherapy treatment is an FDA-approved noninvasive, nonsurgical procedure designed to tighten and tone aging skin in the brow, chin, neck, and upper chest areas. It has become an increasingly popular procedure for its ability to reduce or eliminate fine lines and wrinkles without having you go under the knife.
However, despite the numerous studies and countless satisfied patients that prove the procedure both safe and effective, some people are still reluctant to undergo the Ultherapy treatment. This hesitation can be attributed to a lack of knowledge about the procedure. Today’s article will, therefore, shed some much-needed light on Ultherapy, specifically what happens post-treatment.
Here are 3 things to expect after your Ultherapy treatment:
1. Mild, temporary side effects
While it’s normal to experience side effects after the Ultherapy treatment, these are often minor and temporary. Common side effects in the face and neck areas include mild swelling, tenderness, tingling, numbness, or redness. Bruising may also occur, but this is rare. These side effects may last from a few days to a month.
Side effects in the décolletage area are the same, but last from a few days to around a week.
Any mild discomfort experienced after your Ultherapy treatment can be alleviated by medication prescribed by your physician. You can also apply cold compresses to the target areas to reduce any noticeable swelling.
2. Healing process: no downtime
There is no downtime after your Ultherapy treatment. Patients can resume everyday activities, go back to work, and even exercise immediately after their Ultherapy session. With that said, it’s generally a good idea to avoid saunas and spas for the time being.
In the extremely rare cases where the side effects are causing you more discomfort than is typical, you can go back to Dr. Tang who can help find a solution to your issue.
3. Results
It’s possible to see some results immediately after your Ultherapy treatment. Generally speaking, however, it takes 60 to 90 days for the full effects to become readily observable. These results then last for around 2 years depending on your lifestyle and how your body ages. You can choose to undergo the procedure again for maintenance purposes.
