No one wants to look in the mirror and see an old-looking face. Aging is a fact of life, but some of those wrinkles and lines don’t feel like a sign of character. As we age we start to lose volume as we lose fat, muscle, and bone giving a gaunt appearance making lines and wrinkles deeper and more noticeable causing the skin to sag. If this is the case for you, researching Sculptra injections might be a solution for you. According to the Sculptra reviews, these treatments can help to re-voluminize the face, softening lines and wrinkles and lifting sagging skin in the face and neck. Sculptra injections are done in a gradual manner so that it doesn’t appear that you are having “work done”, which is a preference of some people. The more youthful appearance can last 2 years or more. See patient images here.
Sculptra is FDA approved for cosmetic use and has been used by tens of thousands patients since 2005. Sculptra is made of poly L-lactic acid which is the same material used to make sutures. Once placed in the tissue it activates one’s own fibroblasts which are found in the tissue to produce collagen. The more collagen found in the face the more healthy and youthful one will appear.
Sculptra is often compared with Radiesse because they are both bio-stimulators and can be used in similar ways. A bio-stimulator is an injectable product which is capable of activating the production of collagen vs just simply adding volume ie filler such as Juvederm or Restylane. Each can be fine choices to improve volume but Sculptra is used more as a global volumizer and is used to provide structural support whereby other traditional fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, and Radiesse can build upon. The best analogy is that Sculptra is the foundation of the house in which the scaffolding (traditional fillers) can be laid upon. A well- built house cannot last for years without this structural support because eventually the house will collapse. Sculptra is that very foundation. Areas that are ideal for Sculptra include the temporal areas, cheeks, areas below the cheeks, in front of the ears, and below the mouth. When injecting these areas Sculptra will re-volumize these depleted areas providing a beautiful natural lift and while enhancing the collagen in the skin. Another great benefit of Sculptra is that it can last for two or more years. So depending upon what types of wrinkles you are smoothing or areas that need volume, it may be that the preferred choice is Sculptra or that Sculptra will be combined with other carefully chosen dermal fillers and/or lasers to provide the most optimal result.
Sculptra is usually injected in three to five separate sessions that build on each other over a few months at a time. In this way, the results are constantly being augmented as the procedures continue. It is injected into the subcutaneous fat layer or below the muscle. Each session builds upon the last to give you the appearance that you seek.
After the injections there may be some swelling, soreness at the site and possibly some bruising. Ice can relieve some of the soreness and swelling. There is no other significant downtime otherwise. After the treatment it is recommended that the areas treatment be gently massaged for 5 days 5 times per day and for 5 minutes each session. This will ensure that the product will be evenly spread to ensure that the product will blend nicely into the face.
The treatment with Sculptra cost can be tough to compare to other wrinkle and skin treatment because of what results are expected by the desired treatment. The Sculptra cost may initially appear to be more than other dermal fillers but in fact Scupltra is more cost effective in the desired areas because one has to remember that 1 Sculptra treatment can sometimes provide more volume than 2-3 Juvederms or 2 Radiesse plus it will last 2-4 times longer depending on the product and the area injected. It is best however to make a consultation to discuss the costs and whether Sculptra is right product for you.
Sculptra reviews rave at the wonderful difference in the appearance of the patients who have opted for this type of treatment. Click here to read Irene’s testimonial on Sculptra.
