Here at Rejuve, we offer patients two different Botulinum toxin Type A products, Botox and Dsyport, to treat frown lines and wrinkles, among other common facial issues. While both products make use of Botulinum toxin Type A, there are slight differences between them.
Botox and Dysport Differences
First, Botox injections have more proteins in them compared to Dysport. Though they work similarly, Botox works slower than Dysport. With Dsyport, the effects may be apparent as early as one to two days, while Botox may take around four to seven days. Aside from the faster effect due to the slightly smaller size of its proteins, Dysport has also been found to last longer compared to Botox. These are based on the findings of published studies. Researchers found that Dysport can last up to four months while Botox lasts for three months.
Additionally, there’s also a difference in the depth of injection of the two products. Botox treatments aren’t injected as deep as Dysport treatments are. Finally, when Botox injections seem to be no longer effective on patients, their doctor may advised them to switch to Dysport, as they may respond better with this different product.
Botox and Dysport Similarities
Now, what about their similarities? Both are injectables and are approved by the FDA in the country. Both are safe and effective treatments for moderate to severe lines and creases on the face. Botulinum toxin products does this by relaxing the facial muscles.
Regardless of whether you get Botox injections or Dysport however, please note that individual results will still vary among patients. You are further encouraged to consult Dr. Tang who can advise you on which product is better suited to your needs and treatment goals.
