Fillers and injectables like Botox, Restylane and Juvederm have been around in their modern form since the early 2000’s (although collagen-based injectables became FDA approved in as early as 1981). However, these are eventually absorbed into the body. Ultherapy, on the other hand, has been likened to turning back the clock by stimulating collagen growth in the face, chin, and neck.
An ordinary Botox treatment lasts for around three to six months. Over this period, the toxin, Clostridium botulinum, causes targeted muscles (usually in the face) to relax and soften, allowing the skin to smoothen without the strain of muscles pulling on them. This is why wrinkles caused by sun damage are not affected by Botox. Eventually, the toxin begins to dissipate into your system, and your muscles begin to pull on your skin again.
Restylane and Juvederm, on the other hand, last for around six to 12 months. They are common fillers made from hyaluronic acid (a substance that can be found naturally in your body), which help to literally fill in the creases in the skin to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Over time, your body metabolizes the filler, and another treatment will be needed to maintain your appearance.
Ultherapy Treatment is popular not just because you can avoid the needle, but also because it stimulates the growth of natural collagen from within your body. Ultherapy uses ultrasound technology to target cells underneath the skin to stimulate neocollagenesis (the production of new collagen proteins within your cells). Collagen is the natural protein in your skin that gives it a youthful appearance.
How long the treatment lasts will depend on your natural aging process. Typically, clients come back after one and a half to two years. Contact us to learn more.
