If crow’s feet, forehead lines, and frown lines sometimes called the “elevens” or that tiny picket fence between your brows is making you feel self-conscious or you’re simply tired of always appearing as if you’re angry when you’re not, then a Botox treatment might be something you’d like to consider. Here are three things to know about Botox:
- It’s non-invasive
- In some cases it can erase the lines and wrinkles. In other cases, it prevents these from being visible as movements of the muscles that cause these dynamic wrinkles to appear are temporarily suspended
- Results are temporary; usually lasting up three to four months.
And on that note, here are three things you can do prepare for your first Botox treatment consultation:
1. Get to know your injector.
It is very important to learn about who is doing your procedure. Like most things, experience matters. Botox can be a beautiful thing but in the wrong hands, it can turn ugly pretty fast. Don’t be afraid to ask how long they have doing it, how many patients they treat in a week or month, what their approach would be and why. After asking these questions, you can get an idea on their experience level and have more confidence going into the procedure.
2. Write down other questions about Botox medication and other procedures
To help you make a more informed decision about whether or not to receive Botox treatment, you need to ask relevant questions. Understandably, you might not remember every question you want to ask to come to the actual consultation, so it’s best to write down your questions on a piece of paper or your notebook (even the Note app on your phone). Do not feel embarrassed about it either; doctors appreciate it when patients want to educate themselves about the procedure they’re about to undergo.
3. Have a goal in mind
Why do you wish to get Botox injections? What are your specific goals? The general goal with Botox injections is, of course, to reduce or soften the appearance of dynamic wrinkles and lines. But what are your personal goals exactly? Why do you wish to address these signs of aging? And will this be a one-time treatment or are you considering touch-ups every time results start to fade? You have to discuss these things with your doctor because they can help you meet your goals while taking into consideration your financial situation.
