Ultherapy in San Jose: Avoid Doing These Things After Your Treatment, Dr. Tang Suggests

If you want to tighten loose, aging skin but you’re afraid of needles and surgery, consider undergoing Ultherapy in our San Jose clinic.

Approved by the FDA as both safe and effective, Ultherapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive treatment that ultrasonic waves to tighten and lift sagging skin. This is an excellent procedure to have if you’ve got loose skin under your chin or in the neck area, or if you want to smooth those lines and wrinkles in the brow and upper chest areas.

Ultherapy, our San Jose Bay Area clinic will tell you, directs ultrasound energy to layers of tissue just beneath the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing process. This effectively rejuvenates aging skin, giving it a younger, fresher, and firmer look.

The recovery period after undergoing Ultherapy in San Jose or elsewhere is virtually nonexistent. With no downtime, you can almost immediately go back to your regular routines.

Nevertheless, it’s a good idea to avoid doing the following things after treatment:

1. Vigorous exercise

While there’s no harm in light exercise, you should avoid vigorous exercise or any other kind of strenuous physical activity immediately after Ultherapy. This is because such activities can increase the blood flow to the head, which could lead to an increase in the risk of bruising and swelling in the treated areas. If you do experience bruising or swelling, don’t panic; such side effects range from minor to moderate, are temporary, and won’t negatively impact the Ultherapy results.

2. Sauna or steam bathing

Any bathing method that involves intense heat could result in the same bruising and swelling issue mentioned above. For this reason, avoid saunas, steam bathing, very hot baths or showers, and Jacuzzis. Stick to cool or pleasantly warm baths or showers after your Ultherapy.

3. Anti-inflammatory medications

For at least a month after the procedure, avoid anti-inflammatory meds like Celebrex, naproxen, and ibuprofen, as they could hinder the rejuvenating process of collagen growth stimulated by Ultherapy.

4. Excess sun exposure

For at least two weeks after Ultherapy, San Jose beach outings should be limited as you don’t want too much sun exposure. Avoid tanning, as well. If you have to be under direct sunlight, make sure to wear a wide-brimmed hat. Apply generous coatings of SPF, too, for additional protection.
